"Fishing is a passion, an escape and a true joy to behold..."
Teeth of a Great White Shark on holiday in Australia! |
That's what my dad taught me when I was young. Now, an adult myself, he was completely right. Fishing is my passion and has brought me so much excitement through the years. It's my escape from the hustle and bustle of my inner city work life, my down time and a chance for me to switch off and enjoy nature and all that fishing offers. My dad is my biggest fishing inspiration, he took a young 5 year old, me, to the Hampshire Avon with nothing more than an old telescopic rod, a Mitchell 300 reel and a few maggots and said "there you go son, see what you can catch". Well some several hundred minnows later I was completely hooked! I class myself as an all round angler, living on the south coast I am lucky to have the sea on my doorstep, some good local lakes and pits and a plethora of some of the finest rivers the country has to offer. River fishing is my forte, I can often be found wetting a line on my local beloved Hampshire Avon, the nearby Dorset Stour, the River Itchen and Test. I'm also partial to big river fishing on the Trent and all its smaller tributaries. I enjoy travelling the country and fishing many different rivers meeting some wonderful anglers and making some fantastic mates.
A Classic Hampshire Avon Roach |
Barbel, chub and especially roach and dace are my top four favourite fish. I'm lucky enough to be a member of the 3lb plus river roach captured club which is one of my angling highlights along with many 1lb+ dace and double figured barbel. I just love catching fish. I decided to create this blog not only to act as a diary for my self but to be able to share in detail my captures and trips with like minded people who also share my passion for fishing. It covers not only the good sessions but also the not so good as fishing is all about learning!

I hope you guys enjoy it, you might even pick up a tip or two or even what not do as well, hehe. As after all, a good fisherman is always one who listens and is always willing to adapt and learn from others. So, enjoy the blog and I hope it inspires you to get the rods out and wet a line. Go on, you know you want to...
Best wishes and tight lines 😊
